The Arbutus technology allows any Windows application to directly connect to virtually all mainframe and AS/400 legacy data, without the high cost, complexity or prolonged implementation cycle typical of legacy data access. This includes your non-relational (flat) files on the mainframe, in addition to VSAM, IMS or DB2. Data from any of these sources can appear as a relational table in a unified database. To a Windows application, this virtual database is indistinguishable from a data warehouse.
Arbutus’s data access technology offers compelling benefits when addressing challenges in a variety of different application areas. Following is a summary of some important application areas, together with common challenges that the Arbutus technology can eliminate.
