DB2 Driver
Arbutus LegacyLink™ is a DB2 Driver that allows you to easily
download DB2 data directly into your Windows applications, whether
they are end-user, server, or even web services applications.
The driver is ODBC 3.5 compliant and is therefore fully compatible
with virtually all Windows applications.
In addition, since ODBC connectivity is virtually ubiquitous in
the Windows world, LegacyLink™ is fully compatible with all other
major connectivity standards such as OLE/DB, .NET,
and JDBC. This means that the DB2 driver is also
fully compatible with virtually all Windows application programming
environments, for when you wish to download the data directly into
a custom application.
Another key advantage of our DB2 Driver is it is also compatible
with virtually any other
legacy data as well. This allows you to transparently
combine data from disparate data sources into one unified
view, with no additional infrastructure.
While functionally similar to IBM’s DB2 Connect product, LegacyLink™
offers a number of unique
advantages, particularly for end user applications.
Best of all, the LegacyLink™ DB2 driver requires an absolute minimum
of infrastructure. You can quite literally be up and running in days.
There is no requirement to stage the data or create any special repositories.
The Arbutus LegacyLink™ DB2 driver:
- Combines your DB2 data with IMS,
VSAM or QSAM flat files, as required
- Defines table and column information
automatically based on information
read from the DB2 system tables
- Supports dynamic query push-down
optimization, to maximize query performance
- Ensures security/integrity by providing
read-only access to the data
- Displays only those tables and
columns chosen to be accessible by
the administrator
- Allows the table and column names
that the user sees to be easily modified
for readability or usability
- Supports the creation of dynamic "virtual" columns
based on the contents of the data
without requiring any DB2 changes
- Allows multiple DB2 tables to be
combined into a single logical table
- Join any tables, either via SQL
or star schema relationships
- Provides the ability to create
a limited table list for users' access
based on User profile, Group or Business
