Analyzer is a full featured Windows application that directly accesses legacy data, avoiding the costly staging of data that is typical of other end-user solutions. It is specifically designed to provide powerful query, analysis and reporting capabilities for a broad range of legacy data sources. Because Arbutus specializes in legacy data access, even the most complex files can be defined, and then accessed, as if they were already stored in a modern database.
Unlike traditional data manipulation tools such as Access or Excel, Analyzer’s user interface is specifically designed to address the realities of directly accessing legacy data. Analyzer utilizes a familiar spreadsheet interface to browse, analyze or report on the data, making it appear as though it were already in a data warehouse.
The Overview is a quick and easy way to manage your projects and can be thought of as Arbutus' Windows Explorer. It shows all the defined tables, procedures and other objects, whether they are stored locally or within a shared folder on an Arbutus Data Engine.
The Command and Log window tracks all your actions. As well, the results of your analyses are presented for review and action.
A large variety of query, analysis, reporting and manipulation commands are readily available from the menus. Each of these has options to meet virtually any need.
From within Analyzer, data can be easily moved to other platforms, converted to other formats, or subsets created based on selected criteria.
The Administrator utilizes Analyzer’s built-in data definition expert system and automated metadata conversion to quickly and easily expose each legacy data source. Once defined, the data is immediately available for use by Analyzer and LegacyLink™ users.
