Arbutus LegacyLink™

The term 'legacy data' is usually synonymous with 'difficult to access'. This is because legacy systems aren't built on modern standards, and therefore are hard to access with modern software. Arbutus LegacyLink™ is middleware that easily links your Windows, server and web applications to virtually any database and legacy data source, regardless of complexity.

LegacyLink™ combines an ODBC driver with the data access and definition capabilities of Arbutus Analyzer. All data sources that have been defined with Arbutus Analyzer can be accessed using LegacyLink™, meaning data that Arbutus Servers can access can be viewed as a virtual data mart. Not only can you access the data, but you can execute any SQL query supported by your existing application, without any additional infrastructure.

View Data Existing in Different Formats, on Different Computers, at Once

Any application that can read ODBC can now directly access and integrate your legacy data. Even though the data may exist in different formats on computers in different cities, the Windows user will see a set of tables that appear as though they were in a single, unified database.

Key Data Access Benefits

  • Supports direct SQL access to most legacy data sources
  • Popular Windows applications (e.g., Excel, Crystal Reports) can directly access even complex legacy files from mainframe and AS/400 sources
  • LegacyLink™ can supply legacy data to applications hosted on the web, server and desktop via ODBC, OLE/DB, .NET or JDBC
  • LegacyLink™ accesses - but cannot alter - the original data file, in place, without any requirement for data preparation, conversion or staging
  • Your data is kept secure, as LegacyLink™ provides 'read only' access
  • Data can also be staged, but without the need for data conversion or preparation
  • IT professionals can treat legacy data as if it were already loaded into a modern database, allowing greater flexibility in managing legacy data access, integration or migration requirements
  • Advanced data processing and definition capabilities extend the value that can be realized from the legacy data sources
  • Straightforward set-up of logical relationships between different data sources
